Chapter 1

The Beginning

Trase, wake up!” a stern voice called out from downstairs. The boy rose with a start. His black hair was matted down from the night before. Footsteps can be heard coming upstairs and made its way to his bedroom.

“Mom, get out!” Trase said, throwing his pillow at her.

His mother caught it and said, “You’re going to go to the park with dad today.” Trase walked towards the mirror and wiped the gunk out of his eyes.

“Do I have to?” he questioned.

His mom put the pillow back on the bed and replied, “Yes, you do. You haven’t spent anytime with your father lately.” Trase was seventeen and use to enjoy his father’s presence. This time around, he did not.

“What’s the matter with you and your father?” his mother cried out. Trase walked passed her and did not respond. “I don’t understand why you are behaving this way, Trase!”

Trase ran the water in the bathroom and returned to his room, pulling off his shirt. “Mom, I don’t want to see Dad today. I just don’t feel like it,” Trase protested.

His mother put her hands on her hips and shook her head in disbelief. “That’s unlike you, Trase. I can order you all I want, but will I ever get through to you?” She approached her son and stood in front of him. Trase was slightly taller than his mother was. He has gotten most of his looks from his father though.

“Listen, Trase. Do whatever you want. But you’ll have to face your father whether you like it or not,” She finished her plea and walked back downstairs.

Trase watched her leave and sighed heavily. “Why, must she do that all the time?” he asked himself.

He went back into the bathroom and washed up. The phone rang and Trase’s mother picked up. Trase finished in the bathroom and called out downstairs “Who is that, Mom?”

“It’s Coby!” his mom called back. Trase ran downstairs with his towel wrapped around his waist and grabbed the phone. “Put on some clothes!” his mother yelled, hitting him with an empty soda bottle.

Rubbing his head, Trase answered “Coby, what’s good?”

Coby happily responded, “Everything’s fine at this end!” Trase and Coby had known each other for their whole lives. They were like brothers.

“Where are you right now?” Trase asked.

“I’m at my uncle’s house,” Coby answered.

“Isn’t that far from here?” Trase asked.

“No, it’s right here at home, the Dark Realm!” Coby laughed.

Trase laughed along with him and said, “When are you coming back?”

Coby spoke with a little sarcastic tone, “In like two years, bro,” he laughed and corrected himself, “We are just leaving. We’ll be back in thirty minutes.”

Trase smiled and responded “Okay, Coby.” They said their good-byes and hung up their phones.

“What did he say?” Trase’s mom asked.

Trase shrugged and said, “I don’t know. I forgot.” He walked back upstairs leaving his mom breathless. It took almost one hour for Trase to get ready. He was a young man who cared about his appearance in public. He climbed downstairs and was ready to leave, until the front door flew open. It was Trase’s dad. His father had the same color skin as Trase. These were two noble men who loved each other’s pride, until something rose up from the grave and separated them.

There was a long silence. Trase’s blood ran cold as his glared into the eyes of his father. He was certain that his dad felt the same cold rush.

Trase’s mom spoke first. “Hello, David. It’s good to see you home,” She approached him and kissed her husband.

“It’s good to see you to, Emily,” David returned. Trase sighed deeply as he met his mother’s sad eyes. He couldn’t hurt her.

“What’s happening, pop?” Trase said looking down at the carpet.

“I just came back from the Tunna Lowlands,” he replied.

Emily smiled, knowing the fact that the two still loved one another despite their troubles. “Where are you going?” Emily asked Trase, in hope that he would say “nowhere”.

Trase smiled and said “Coby’s house,”

Emily frowned, but then quickly smiled. “Oh, okay. Off you go now”. She said opening the door for his exit.

“See you later, pop,” Trase said as his walked out and closed the front gate behind him.

The Prolouge

Prologue

It was a cold and bitter night. The forces of wind made leaves hang onto the branches for dear life. The sorrowful moon made the land an inky grey. The dark clouds passed the sky as if on a stampede.

A small house perched on top of a hill. It was not in horrible condition, but you can tell that the wind had done some damage. A tall and slim shadow appeared over the house’s gate. The shadow opened it and walked swiftly towards the door. When it got there, it raised its hand toward the knob and the door flew quietly open. The shadow made its way to the stairs. There was a light coming from a nearby bedroom. It made haste, and ascended the stairs.

A small crib in the corner occupied the lighted room. The shadow approached it and stood over the small baby. The baby was a dark brown and had already started to grow a nappy, black colored hair. It was sleeping peacefully. The shadow picked up the baby and held it close.

“Hello, Trase.” the shadow spoke softly. The shadow looked at the door to make sure that no one was to interfere in what it was about to do. The shadow raised the baby up towards the window, which bared the naked moon. It murmured a couple of phrases. Then it brought the baby back and kissed it lightly on its small lips. A bright, blue light filled the room and the baby started to cry. Quickly, the shadow put an end to it by placing its finger on the child’s head. The shadow put the baby back in its crib and left the house without any sound.

The Preface

The Preface

The dinosaurs had their fate, so why not us? We lived in peace and we had our wars. We had our successes and we had our failures. But this time, everything will change. The scientists had discovered an incoming comet and said that it will hit the Atlantic Ocean. “The vast water will devour the comet’s heat and debris” “There’s no need to worry.” they said. Well, they were wrong- dead wrong. The comet came and split into the Earth’s atmosphere. Its size was immense, more than the scientists imagined it would be. But people still believed that the ocean will be their savior. For the comet; its blasts down the air and spread thousands, upon thousands of dust. The heat it had collected was burning the air itself and evaporated the clouds in an instant. The comet plunged into the Atlantic and everything settles down. The scientists were right? The comet forced its way down and crashes into the bottom of the ocean. It sends enormous shockwaves and caused a massive amount of earthquakes. These quakes terrorized all continents, rocking their worlds- literally. The quakes split mountains and cracked shores. Cities and towns sank into the fissures and steaming lava flowed everywhere.

This comet strike also caused other natural disasters. Tornadoes ripped through farms, hurricanes rushed through cities, and massive floods carried away the lifeless bodies. This tragic event had gone on for 3 years.

It’s 2008 and the world has been silent. No word on what happened; therefore, most of the population had been wiped out. But life still went on. The natural disasters calmed down and the earth had stopped shaking. Surviving communities had gotten together and worked hard to reach out to the rest of the world. So, the greatest among the people gathered together and said that they would go under something called the Redesigning Period. They spoke for months and planned to restore the world.

The Redesigning Period

The people that were able to gather and talk things over were known as the “Intellects”. These Intellects spoke about the changes the Earth had suffered. Continents have been split so severely; that you can call it a “bunch of little islands”. The ice caps melted and almost completely flooded some cities.

“Let’s make the world a floating city,” One of the Intellects suggested.

“No, that will be asking for more trouble!” another one opposed. They sat down for weeks and finally came up with a touchy solution.

“Let’s go back,” The lead Intellect said. “We shall go back into the medieval times. Forget about some technology; therefore, it caused this mess.” Other Intellects went berserk. They argued that bringing down the technology will bring them to a disadvantage. “Who will we suffer from?” the lead Intellect, who’s name was Kerk, said. “The entire world had just gone through this catastrophe. Why would one try to bring the other down?” Kerk reasoned. His fellow Intellects thought hard about what he had stated. Soon enough, they agreed. And as soon as they could, they sent out all the messengers they can muster. “Bare the word!” was the slogan for the world’s new era.

The New Era and its Conditions

As the word began to spread throughout the remaining world, the Intellects started to receive feedback from the surviving landmasses. There have been reports that people were experiencing strange problems. In Africa, they complained that citizens could shoot out rock from the ground with just one stamp of their foot. Others can turn their arms into stone-whenever they choose to. In Europe, people have been spitting out molten lava-without burning themselves! They can create volcanoes and make pyroclastic clouds out of thin air. The whole world was going through similar situations.

“We need to do something,” Kerk announced at an important meeting.

“Kill them! They’re not human!” Intellects started to call out.

“NO!” Kerk yelled. “As we speak, your families could be suffering from the same thing.” Kerk pointed at Herlin, his second-in-command. “Herlin, raise your left hand and think of a small whirlwind.” Kerk told him.

Herlin looked confused, “What good will that do?”

“DO IT!” Kerk yelled. Herlin jumped up and faced the crowd. He raised his hand slowly and closed his eyes. Surprisingly, a gusting whirl of air formed in front of him. Gasping with amazement, Herlin moved the small whirlwind, slowly across the table. “You see?” Kerk said. “We mustn’t kill anyone! Let’s try to sort this out. We will find a way!”

It’s now 2010. The Intellects have taken 2 years to gather up ships. These ships sailed around the malformed world and took anybody who was willing to go. Kerk’s plan was to separate the people-to prevent outbreaks in the weakened world. Further changes will be discussed later.

Later that year, Kerk’s ships have been seen all over the world. To his surprise, people actually boarded the ships and let them be taken away.

“What shall we do for the countries? The landmasses have been wrecked completely.” Herlin mentioned to Kerk. Kerk nodded slowly, he knew there will be some difficulty. Africa can’t be Africa when half of the land had been broken up and was floating away. Other landmasses were once flourishing forests, but have been scorched-likewise with dry areas.

“They say that people experienced problems,” Kerk stated. “These problems were dealing with the basic elements.” Kerk thought for a moment, “Ice, Water, Fire, and Wind.” He soon got the idea to separate the world’s survivors and create elemental realms. Many Intellects agreed, but others knew that it would cause trouble.

Soon, there was the Fire Realm, which was located near where South America once was. The Water Realm was stationed where North America once stood. The Wind Realm was in the Eastern Hemisphere, near Europe. What was once Africa was now known as the Earth Realm. These four nations strived through the years to come.

Over the Years

Years have gone by and the four nations managed to get along. But when there’s peace; there is always evil. Wars broke out and nations invaded others-just like the medieval period. That’s what they wanted right? Well, everything wasn’t all swords and arrows. The world agreed to keep weapons like guns and explosives. But these were only to be used in dire situations or used to protect important areas. Wizardry became a well known subject for schools. Some taught about the warrior ways, some schools practiced archery. Kings rose and fell. Nations struggled and strived. It wasn’t to long, till they noticed that time, itself, was acting sluggish. Intellects suggested that the comet strike, which was called “The Oblivion”, emitted strong radiation throughout the world. It seemed farfetched and many didn’t believe it, but it was the only, closest, logical reason. Mythical creatures like dragons and unicorns came into the world. Many believe that radiation also cause this phenomenon. But the theory of the radiation also stood strong because animals like bobcats, well, became more human. So did the wolves and some pigs. With the years gone by, they have made their own species become known. The bobcats were known as Bobbies, the wolves were known was the Wolven, and the pigs were called Pigas. There were still some modern cities and towns existing, but castles and stone homes were now widespread. The world has adjusted to their new time and really didn’t want to change back. It’s now year 2030 and the world has been renamed from Earth to Sitius. Many cities were renamed as well, but that didn’t stop the people from moving on and do what some did in the Modern time

What's this blog about?

Well, in this blog I will be posting up chapters of my first novel. A Prince's King and a King's Prince. It is a fantasy novel, with a cool twist in the Preface. Many of people say that it's a crazy idea, but I feel very confident about the piece. So, what I'm looking for if feedback, constructive and helpful. I hope you enjoy and continue reading my novel!
